Caughley

Caughley pottery and porcelain factory was based in Shropshire and had produced pottery since 1750. Between 1772-55, Caughley was taken over by  Thomas Turner and Robert Hancock (1730 - 1817), from the Worchester porcelain factory. Turner introduced porcelain and Hancock brought transfer printing and the blue underglaze. Caughley wares are said to be almost indistinguishable from Worchester wares, with only the blue pigment at Caughley being slightly brighter. In 1799, John Rose (d.1841) bought the factory and joined it with the Coalport factory.
