| George Arnald
(A.R.A)
(1763 – 1841)
Arnald was a
topographer and pupil of William
Pether.
He exhibited at the Royal
Academy (R.A) from1788,
elected Associate member of
the Royal Acdemy
1810.
In 1798 or 1799, he visited North Wales
with John Varley, and in 1828 he was working in
France.
He also sketched in many parts of the British Isles and Ireland,
and from 1825 carried out a number
of commissions for the Duke of
Gloucester.
His work is in the tradition of Dayes and early Turner, with
thin blue, grey and green washes.
His son Sebastian Wyndham Arnald and two
of his daughters were also artists.
