Arnald is recorded as being born in the Northamptonshire village of Farndip. Today the village is Farndish and lies in the north-west of Bedfordshire. A local patron encouraged the talent he perceived in Arnald, who moved to London and became a student of William Pether. Works by Arnald were exhibited at The Royal Academy from 1788 and he baceame an associate member in 1810. A collection of watercolours and drawings of Bedfordshire village scenes is held at the County Records Office. |
